Event Overview

India as a Nation has been working tirelessly towards the goal of providing equal opportunities and access to all citizens in education and sports, as a National Sports Promotion Organization it has been PEFI’s core organizational objective to create sports culture and facilities to all in order to ensure satisfactory levels of health and fitness especially in rural and remote areas. However, the shortage of hard and soft assets at the block/panchayat level has been a persistent issue that has hindered the government’s efforts to improve the quality of life for rural communities. Hard assets such as infrastructure, equipment, and buildings, and soft assets such as skilled human resources, training, and capacity building are critical components that play a vital role in providing access to basic amenities such as healthcare, education, and sports facilities. The shortage of these assets has resulted in a significant gap between urban and rural areas, leading to inequalities in access to basic services and opportunities.

To address this issue, Physical Education Foundation of India under the aegis of the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, is organizing a National Level Brainstorming Workshop on the topic “Addressing The Shortage of Hard and Soft Assets Starting from Block/Panchayat Level – Role of Various Stakeholders” under MYAS initiative of Youth 20 events with the theme of “Health, Well-Being on Sports: An Agenda for Youth” on the sidelines of G20 events. The event will be held concurrently with the 6th PEFI National Awards.

PEFI National Awards, aims to recognize and honor outstanding contributions made by individuals and organizations in the field of physical education and sports science.

The aim of this very significant event is to bring together various stakeholders, including policymakers, experts, academics, and practitioners, to discuss and find solutions to the challenges faced in addressing the shortage of hard and soft assets in rural areas. Through this event, we hope to create a platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collaboration towards building a more equitable and sustainable future for all.

Through panel discussions, keynote speeches, and interactive sessions, the seminar will explore the role of various stakeholders, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, private sector, and local communities, in addressing the shortage of hard and soft assets in rural areas. The workshop will also focus on identifying potential funding mechanisms, partnership models, and policy recommendations to support the development and maintenance of hard and soft assets in rural areas.

The National Level Brainstorming workshop will be open to participants from various backgrounds, including policymakers, practitioners, researchers, students, and community representatives, who are interested in promoting sports, health, and well-being in rural areas. The event will provide an excellent opportunity for networking, learning, and exchanging ideas with experts and practitioners in the field.
